I just recently visited the Field Museum of Natural History on Chicago. They had a huge section about the Pacific Northwest Native Americans. I kept seeing all kinds of stuff talking about the raven...would this be the same reference here?

Yes, I think so. Raven and coyote are the spiritual personification of the creation on this side of the mountains. Raven created the earth and coyote created man to fill it. On the other side, where Adam lives, it’s the raven and the orca.
